Deception is the means by which you reconcile your deviant desires and behaviors with what you have known in your spirit. Those who walk in darkness have no need to be deceived—there is no light—there is no conflict. But those who have been exposed to light know the difference. They choose to believe a lie to conquer the outcry of the spirit within them. If Satan is your master, why would he have need to don sheep's clothing? Deception is for the brethren. [Matthew 24:3-5 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying,"Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. Ephesians 5:6-8 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.]
Areas of your being that are not totally submitted to the Almighty become conduits for deception. These areas have agendas not consistent with righteousness—yet they desire to be at "peace"—not a God-peace but a release from the conviction of My Spirit. Deception offers the remedy—the distortion of Truth with it bends the path. Eventually you have erred so far that you no longer see the true path.
Those who Satan has dominated are his. But those who have come to Christ must be seduced—not by someone else's agenda and desires—but by your own. [James 1:14-17 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Matthew 16:6-12 Then Jesus said to them, "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees." And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "It is because we have taken no bread." But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, "O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread? Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up? Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up? How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? — but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.] The enemy of your soul knows your vulnerabilities. He appeals to these and then provides you with a reasonable rational so that you may be led outside the realm of safety. Flee these lusts and with them the deception. Walking fully in the light will inoculate you against the disease of deception—This is not by using small amounts of deception to train you to detect and respond but rather by providing that blood that is pure and above reproach; that blood that speaks of better things than that of Abel; that saving flow that delivers you from the oppressor and cleanses you from all unrighteousness. That same blood will detect deception and make it flee.
